Scran Launch Innovative New Service

25th April, 2001

welcome to the new look

Anyone with aspirations to design their own website or curate an exhibition will be interested to learn that Scran recently launched some exciting new exhibitions software in tandem with its new-look web service.

Vaunting an easy-to-use design, the new-look Scran is the ideal platform for innovative services which will revolutionize the way Scran users interact with resources on-site.

Speaking at the launch, which took place at the National Museum of Scotland in late May, Scran Chief Executive Prof. Bruce Royan said, 'Scran is popular with hundreds of thousands of users already, but now we have made it better and easier to use with many new features including the unique Virtual Exhibitions programme'.

As its title suggests, Virtual Exhibitions allows users to create their own exhibition on the web with the extensive range of images and objects available on Scran. "It has been designed so that anyone can use it and achieve professional results, without having to get to grips with the nuts and bolts of web design." said Robin Tatler, Director of Media and Communications at VFactO, who worked with Scran to develop this entertaining and inspirational new software.

With one million records now online and an easy-to-navigate new site design, the only difficulty left for budding designers and curators will be deciding which virtual exhibits to put on their site.
