Robert Grieves R.I.P.

We were saddened to learn of the recent death of Robert Grieves, who collected and curated what has proved to be one of the most popular picture collections on the site, the Robert Grieves archive.

Spanning the 20th century, and drawn from all parts of Scotland (and beyond), this remarkable collection of images is of interest to transport enthusiasts and history scholars alike, and features wonderful snapshots of a bygone era, from horse-drawn carriages to trams and buses.  The collection was purchased for conservation and preservation, with the help of Heritage Lottery Award, by the Scottish Motor Museum Trust.  It can be seen here.
