The Expeditions of Ian Barr

New on Scran: photographs documenting the expeditions of Ian Barr

John T.K. Barr, better known as Ian, was a life-long educator and traveller, and a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. As a geography teacher and Scout leader he led and took part in over 40 expeditions to places around the globe between the 1960s and 2000s. A vast archive of photographs, films and talks results from his travels and there is an annual Ian Barr Memorial Lecture in his honour at the Greenock Philosphical Society.

Scran is delighted to be able to showcase photographs from the Deserts and Canyons Expedition to North American which Mr Barr took part in in 2000. These photographs, kindly contributed to Scran by My Barr's family, explore the stunning landscapes of several National Parks in Utah, with rocky landscapes and desert terrain, steep climbs, sheer cliff-faces and sharp descents.
