Child star Shirley Temple dies aged 85

11th February, 2014

The former Hollywood child actor Shirley Temple died on February 10th 2014 in the USA.  A popular singer and film star in the 1930s and 1940s, she appeared in many films including Curly Top and Bright Eyes. Her later career saw her entering politics and, under her married name of Shirley Temple Black, she was the US's ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia. Her popularity extended to the UK, and the Scran image here shows an Aberdeen cinema in the 1930s prominently advertising her then-current film The Poor Little Rich Girl.
