Created by Carmen Galvez and Roser Vich, Institute for Applied Language Studies, University of Edinburgh
What kind of resources are these?
Handouts presenting reading, writing and group discussion activities on two cultural topics for adult students of Spanish.
The first set of materials involves students in describing and discussing Spanish paintings. The second set requires the students to obtain information about three Scottish people who fought in the Spanish Civil War in order to choose one as the main character for a film.

Who were they designed for?
Intermediate and Advanced level adult students of Spanish as a Foreign Language.
Points of interest:
Although there is great demand from language students for more cultural topics in the language curriculum, there tends to be poor coverage of such material in published textbooks. Moreover such actvities are much more difficult and time consuming for teachers to develop than grammar or vocabulary activities. The authors of this project have made a great job of exploiting Scran to devise a range engaging language activities based on two fascinating subjects.
