Points of interest:

Teaching ESOL requires an imaginative approach and the use of visual material is essential to stimulate students’ interest and increase their knowledge and understanding of the English language. These materials show how a large, multidisciplinary image database such as Scran can be used to support a range of activities in the language classroom, providing a refreshing alternative to the standard and often all too familiar textbooks. A collection such as Scran can also help students who wish to study outside the classroom but have limited access to books, museums, art galleries etc by broadening their cultural environment and providing a more-in depth knowledge of British culture through exposure to the history, art and customs of the UK.
