[0125] Cromarty - Architecture and People

Thumbnail for project: Cromarty - Architecture and People This project provides records of 50 buildings in Cromarty, creating sample records of its vernacular architecture placed in the context of the people who built, inhabited or worked there. Important buildings included are the Courthouse (1772), Hugh Miller's Cottage (1690's). The development of the burgh is also explored at different periods, such as the fishing community before the 17th century and early 18th century expansion in an area called "Pickeltoun" (where fish were cured).

Selected analytical work is also shown, including dye analysis and the investigation of ancient artifacts.
