Treasured Places was a series of exhibitions curated by the Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland in 2008, as part of its celebration of its centenary year. As part of this centenary, people were encouraged to vote for their favourite buildings in Scotland. The ten most popular buildings then were highlighted in the exhibition in a series of mp3 podcasts. These have now been enhanced with additional pictures and turned into short movies.

Built in 1590 by Bailie John MacMorran, Riddle’s Court has, for over four centuries, been a home, a library, a workplace, an arts venue and a hub for learning. During 2006/7, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and City of Edinburgh Council, a team of 30 WEA learners, members, tutors and staff researched and recorded the story of Riddle’s Court - Vivendo Discimus: by living we learn - through photography, creative writing and historical investigation.
This selection of photographs, amassed by the WEA Riddle’s Court Photography Group, reflects three key aspects of this special Royal Mile landmark: The Living Building; The Art and Architecture; The Place of Learning.
