A look at the North Carr lightship, which was stationed off the Carr Rock near Fife Ness from 1933 to 1975, except during the Second World War period when she marked the Clyde approaches. There has only ever been this one lightship in the coastal waters covered by the Northern Lighthouse Board.

[0939] The Suffragette Movement
Suffragettes were women of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who sought to obtain voting rights for women, an objective which was finally achieved in 1918 when all females aged 30 or over were finally enfranchised. Equality with men only came in 1928. A principle focus of suffragism in Scotland, Dundee was the first Scottish city to imprison suffragettes, some of whom subsequently went on hunger strike.
