This fascinating collection of images documents a garden in Murrayfield, Edinburgh, and the flowers and plants it contains, taken at different times throughout a single year. This collection was kindly licensed to Scran by Prof. Cairns Aitken, an academic physician/psychiatrist in Rehabilitation Medicine, who became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and retired as Vice-Principal at the University of Edinburgh in 1994. He was born in Dunoon, Argyll in 1933. He has had a life-long interest in photography, and in completing projects. He was awarded the CBE in 1998 for his contribution to the Health Services.

[1150] The James Veitch Collection
A collection of images taken by the photographer James Veitch at the turn of the 20th century, these late Victorian and early Edwardian photographs include portraits, street scenes, sports scenes, documents and more. Many were taken in and around Jedburgh, and there are many pictures related to the ship HMS Roxburgh. These documents and images were kindly licensed to Scran by Chris Veitch, one of the photographer's descendants.

Scotland is a land full of islands, small and large, some uninhabited (like St Kilda), others with small populations. This travelogue around Scotland's inhabited islands (including Muck, Eigg, North Ronaldsay and Hoy) documents the natural beauty of these landscapes, and includes images of wildlife, architecture and numerous lochs.
