A trip around India documented in a series of colourful photographs, including images of temples, people, marketplaces and traditions. This collection was kindly licensed to Scran by Prof. Cairns Aitken, an academic physician/psychiatrist in Rehabilitation Medicine, who became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and retired as Vice-Principal at the University of Edinburgh in 1994. He was born in Dunoon, Argyll in 1933. He has had a life-long interest in photography, and in completing projects. He was awarded the CBE in 1998 for his contribution to the Health Services.

This George Henry Paulin collection contains magazine articles about his work, as well as his Royal Society of British Sculptors certificate. 'GHP', was a respected Scottish sculptor and well established artist in the early 20th century. His memorial work was prolific following World War One, however Paulin also specialised in portrait busts of contemporary and historical figures.

[1127] Gathering the Voices
The Gathering the Voices project holds contributions from the survivors of Nazi anti-Semitism and political persecution of World War Two, who sought sanctuary in Scotland. Contributors gave their testimonies generously despite describing experiences that were painful for them to recall. The project consists of audio recordings of two women, namely Gretl Shapiro and Marian Camrass, as well as their respective family photographs and ephemera.
