Thumbnail for project: Further Images of VeniceFurther images of Venice, the Italian city built on a lagoon and characterised by its canals, its many magnificent buildings and its gondolas. Included in this project are images of mosaics, artworks, Murano glassblowing, bridges and gondoliers. This travelogue was photographed and kindly licensed to Scran by Prof. Cairns Aitken, an academic physician/psychiatrist in Rehabilitation Medicine, who became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and retired as Vice-Principal at the University of Edinburgh in 1994. He was born in Dunoon, Argyll in 1933. He has had a life-long interest in photography, and in completing projects. He was awarded the CBE in 1998 for his contribution to the Health Services.
