The soldiers also used a caltrops. A caltrops was an iron object with a lot of sharp points. The soldiers would sling the caltrops towards the enemy, especially the cavalry. If the caltrops injured a horse then the rider was much easier to attack. The caltrops was very useful because the Britons had never seen a weapon like it and were not ready to defend themselves against it.
